Has anyone done a recent study on the impact of pharmaceuticals polluting our waters?

Earth911's Amanda Wills (http://earth911.com/blog/author/awills/) wrote this brief article (http://earth911.com/blog/2009/09/07/recycling-mystery-medication/) about the topic, yet I don't see any current studies that show the actual harm (if any) to plants, animals and humans.

Drug Disposal Policy Guidelines from various Gov't and NGO sites include:
US EPA Pharmaceuticals and Personal Care Products (PPCPs) (http://www.epa.gov/ppcp/basic2.html)

US FDA > For Consumers > How to Dispose of Unused Medicines (http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm101653.htm#Guidelines)

White House Office of National Drug Control Policy > the first consumer guide for proper disposal of prescription drugs (http://www.whitehousedrugpolicy.gov/publications/pdf/prescrip_disposal.pdf). (February, 2007) PDF Downloadable Document.
