Better than a Kiwi Wiki ... the YikeBike is a New Zealand invention. Also called an electric penny farthing, The small frame foldable bicycle is electrically powered, can ride up to 10 km on a single charge, and takes just 30 minutes to recharge.

It was made by two amateur inventors.

Co-creator Grant Ryan and engineer Peter Higgins showcased the YikeBike at Europe's big annual bicycle exhibit, Eurobike, on the first Demo Day.

They say that YikeBike encourages the use of public transport, partly by design. Since the bicycle folds easily into a small hand holdable shape, passengers can easily pick it up and get onto buses or into other public transport vehicles.

The bicycle weighs about 22 lbs. (about 10 kg) and can fit into a shoulder-carry bag, and stores under a computer desk or even in a small closet.

The company says that the carbon-fiber version will retail for about $7,000. They also promised that more affordably-priced models will appear soon.
